Dear Members of the Reading Committee,

I appreciate your willingness to devote your time to serve on my reading committee.  Please accept this dossier in support of my application for continuing appointment and promotion to Librarian II, Government Information Librarian and Video Game Cataloger.

In my approximate six years as a librarian at the Michigan State University Libraries, I have shown an eagerness to learn, grow, and expand my responsibilities. I began my librarian career as the Assistant Copyright Librarian with a secondary assignment in Reference. From there I transitioned to the role of Government Information Librarian in charge of international and Federal documents and with a liaison role to James Madison College. As the needs of the library changed, I was eager to expand my skills and knowledge and have since taken on responsibility for Canadian, Michigan, and European documents. Additionally, liaison responsibilities were transferred to the Teaching and Learning unit in the Library. Towards the end of 2015, I began a secondary as a Video Game Cataloger working with the massive video game donation from the Rovi Corporation and shifted my Reference assignment to a tertiary. These changes in my position have required a lot of self-study and determination in order to ensure that I continue to provide exceptional service to the library community and I am proud of the contribution that I have made.

My excellent communication skills coupled with my enthusiasm for my areas and tenacity ensure that the interactions I have with patrons leaves them with a positive impression of the MSU Libraries and the services that we offer. Evidence of my high quality service and ability to promote our collections with an emphasis on government information is supported in my dossier.

I enjoy sharing my expertise with my colleagues and have presented at multiple Reference meetings. Additionally, it is important for me to share my knowledge with the broader library community and I have presented several nationally publicized webinars and have presented at a number of conferences. I also welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively and have successfully worked with colleagues at the library and University Archives to create exhibits, presentations, and a book chapter.

I am well suited for my position and look forward to the opportunity to continue expanding my knowledge and responsibilities at the MSU Libraries.

I thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Julia Frankosky
