Interagency Depository Seminar

July 29 – August 2, 2013

The Government Publishing Office (GPO) hosts an annual Interagency Depository Seminar in order to provide training to new depository coordinators. As the new depository coordinator for MSU’s federal documents collection, I found this opportunity incredibly helpful to provide a better understanding of the legal requirements of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) and tasks of a coordinator, such as viewing and altering our selection profile. There were also sessions on finding government information to answer patron questions. This week-long seminar really helped me better understand the depository program and my role in the program.

Topics included using the Federal Digital System (FDsys http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/), using American FactFinder to find Census data, using the Depository Selection Information Management System (DSIMS) to view and update our depository selection profile, and how to get help from the GPO.
