Librarianship is a constantly evolving profession and I prioritize pursuing continuing education opportunities to help ensure that I am staying as knowledgeable as possible. I am fortunate that both the Government Publishing Office (GPO) and ALA GODORT offer many high-quality webinars focusing on government information. Data is another area where I try to attend as many training sessions as possible, especially for data produced by the Census Bureau since that is an area where I assist many researchers.
I also work to expand my skills in cataloging and I attended 24-hours of NACO (Name Authority Cooperative Program) training, led by Lucas Mak in 2018. I later attended a NACO refresher course led by Autumn Faulkner, which consisted of approximately 12 hours’ worth of sessions in 2025. When we switched to Folio, I attended Folio cataloging training in 2022.
