While I have been the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) coordinator at MSU since April 2013, I was eager to participate in the newly created FDLP Coordinator Certificate Program offered by the Government Publishing Office (GPO). This 8 week online course ran from February 1 until April 4, 2017 and consisted of readings, assignments, quizzes, discussion board posts, and mandatory 2 hour webinars once a week.
Course description:
The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Coordinator Certificate Program presents an opportunity for the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) to educate FDLP coordinators on managing depository collections in compliance with the Legal Requirements & Program Regulations of the Federal Depository Library Program. It brings together GPO and depository libraries in a new way to strengthen and improve the FDLP. At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic competencies of managing a Federal depository collection.
