MSU Main Library. March 2, 2018. Presented with Amanda Tickner.
During Endangered Data Week 2018, Amanda Tickner and I co-presented on leveraging U.S. Census data for research and mapping. We highlighted key resources including American FactFinder, Social Explorer, SimplyAnalytics, and PolicyMap. The well-attended session drew MSU students, faculty, staff, and community members. In my portion of the presentation, I provided an overview of the Census, covering its history, common applications of the data, and potential future challenges. I also reviewed both free and subscription-based access points, discussing their respective benefits and limitations.
