  • Leader, Research Data Management (RDM) Community for Advising, Facilitating, and Enabling (CAFÉ), May 2012-October 2013
    • In March 2012, RDMG hosted a meeting of research data service providers on campus to begin a conversation about services that are available to researchers. It became evident based on the comments that an ongoing forum for such conversations needed to be created. The members of RDMG created a proposal for the creation of the RDM CAFÉ  and I sent our proposal to David Gift, who was CIO at the time. Mr. Gift supported our proposal and the RDM CAFÉ was formed. In collaboration with the rest of the RDMG team, we hosted quarterly CAFÉ meetings which usually consisted of either a service provider of research data support presenting on what their unit provides or a campus researcher talking about their experience with managing their research data. These CAFEs generally had about 20-30 individuals in attendance from units all over campus. Minutes from previous meetings can be found at http://forums.msu.edu/forumdisplay.php?f=61
