I continue to work as a member of the
Content Team for the Michigan Memories project (michmemories.org). This collaborative
project is part of the Michigan Service Hub and serves as a resource for primary sources
housed at Michigan institutions. The primary audience for this project is K-12 Michigan
educators.

• 2020-2021 I created a Qualtrics survey and sent it out to K-12 educators to find out their
  needs in relation to Michigan-focused primary resources. This survey examined
  how they use primary sources in the classroom, get an understanding of the issues
  they face in finding and using quality primary sources, what material type they prefer to
  use (maps, diaries, gov docs, images, etc.), and discover what groups of people they
  wish they could have primary sources for (African Americans, Native Americans, factory
  workers, etc.). The last question was to help the team prioritize our creation of online
  exhibits and lesson plans highlighting these different groups of people using sources
  within Michigan Memories, as well as what cultural institutions we need to work with to
  get more useful primary sources ingested into Michigan Memories.We are organizing a focus group of K-5 teachers for the end of March to present a
  sample exhibit and accompanying lesson plan on Lighthouses and get their feedback
  regarding the usability and usefulness for this exhibit and lesson plan. This sample will
  be used as a template for our work going forward.

In December 2019, I was asked to become a member of the Michigan Memories content
team, along with three other individuals from universities throughout the state. The
purpose of this group is to find primary source collections about Michigan that have
either already been digitized or can be digitized from around the state and ingest these
into one portal. In addition to adding primary source documents, the content team also
creates lesson plans for K-12 educators so that they can easily incorporate these
primary sources into their classrooms. We are currently working on identifying Michigan
documents related to the Suffragist Movement and creating a one to two-day lesson plan
incorporating these sources

Online exhibits we created this year include Women’s History month, Arab American Heritage
month, LGBTQ pride month, Hispanic Heritage month, Native American Heritage month, Black
History month, Historic Preservation month, Summertime in Michigan, and the holiday season.
