In December 2019, I joined the Content Team for Michigan Memories, a project of the Michigan Service Hub for the Digital Public Library of America. Michigan Memories serves as a centralized portal that provides access to digital collections from cultural institutions across the state.

As part of a four-member team representing diverse institutions and backgrounds, I helped create educational resources to highlight the Service Hub’s collections. These materials—primarily designed for K-12 educators—included lesson plans, online exhibits, and blog posts. Between 2020 and 2021, I developed and distributed a Qualtrics survey to better understand K-12 educators’ needs regarding Michigan-focused primary sources. The survey results informed a follow-up focus group we organized in March 2021, which allowed us to explore teachers’ challenges and requirements in greater depth.

Over the course of my involvement, the team produced a series of themed digital exhibits, including Women’s History Month, Arab American Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Historic Preservation Month, Summertime in Michigan, Lighthouses, and Railroads. We met weekly to coordinate our efforts, align priorities, and refine our work. I stepped down from the Content Team in May 2026 due to evolving responsibilities in my primary role.
